The Drillguide Wireless Steering Tool (WST) is a guidance system specially developed by Brownline for horizontal directional drilling. This tool provides a fast and efficient steering system tailored to the small diameter rig market.
How does the Drillguide Wireless Steering Tool work?
The tool measures the current pitch, azimuth, and rotation at the drill head underground. Using an electromagnetic (EM) signal, the measurements are transmitted to the surface. Our algorithm determines the exact position of the drill head, and the data is monitored in real-time on a computer screen during drilling operations.
The Drillguide Wireless Steering Tool combines gyroscopic and magnetic measurements to provide the highest possible accuracy.

The Drillguide WST is always deployed together with Brownline's GPS track for surface verification. Together, this combination offers the highest possible quality in the smaller rig segment.

The Drillguide Wireless Steering Tool comes standard with our Pressure-While-Drilling (PWD) sensors. These sensors measure both the mud pressure in the borehole and the internal pressure.
Careful real-time monitoring of borehole pressure reduces the risk of inadvertent returns (blow outs), which is particulary important when drilling in environmentally sensitive areas, as well as in busy urban environments.
