We are seeing ever longer and more complex horizontal directional drills coupled with higher demands for accurate punch-outs. Brownline has developed the GPS track system to also provide accurate steering for such drills.
How it works
A Surface Unit is put on the surface along the drill track before the envisaged exit point. Via a satellite connection, the exact coordinates of the Surface Unit are measured.
With the help of GPS track, an add-on module to our Gyro steering tool, the Surface Unit is detected and the position relative to each other determined. This forms an independent determination of the drill head position that increases the accuracy of the navigation. The GPS track has a depth range up to 130 ft.
Through its action, GPS track allows to navigate to within centimeters of the desired exit point.
